Foundation SPLIKA

Our mission is to embrace the culture of Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao, to protect their identity, and to strengthen the connection with their essence. The SPLIKA Foundation celebrates the authenticity of its people, its language, and its traditions.

About us

On September 11, 1990, the SPLIKA Foundation was founded by patriots from the ABC islands residing in the Netherlands, driven by passion and love for their culture and identity; to promote the recognition of Papiamento* and its language rights in Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao, as well as in the Netherlands.

A foundation dedicated, among other things, to the recognition of the Papiamento* language, to the dissemination of knowledge about this language and its culture, and to the guidance and connection with its identity.

Foundation SPLIKA stands for:

Stimulá – the promotion of
Papiamentu – Papiamento*
Literatura i – literature and
Informashon riba – information about the
Kultura di – culture of the
Antianan abou – Antillean Leeward Islands.

Key milestones of the SPLIKA Foundation

The SPLIKA Foundation aims to motivate and inspire the new generations of Antilleans living in the Netherlands to take pride in their background and to encourage them to reconnect with their Caribbean identity and embrace it.

We also aim to provide a sense of home for the older generation residing in the Netherlands, through an organization that offers them the space to reconnect with their culture, including activities that embrace and celebrate their heritage.

Our main goal is to create opportunities for individuals to engage with or stay connected to Antillean culture.
